Intro post
Apr. 28th, 2012 11:32 pmHello! I am half-Brit half-Yank, and since I grew up in the United States tea has been a way for my mum and I to stay connected to Britain (if that makes sense). My grandmother gave me a china play tea set when I was a child; she gave me a proper china tea set as an adult. I use it less often than I would like as I can't put it in the dishwasher and sometimes I'm in a rush. If I don't drink tea out of the china, I use a hand-thrown pottery mug. I'm kind of particular about my drinking vessels.
I prefer Earl Grey tea, hot. I like the bergamot, it's not just because it's Picard's drink. I have to drink decaffeinated tea, though, which means I don't drink as many varieties as I might like to try. Sometimes I just can't find something in a decaf version. I also attempt to find things in Fair Trade, although I will occasionally make exceptions for things like Yorkshire Gold or Tetley's (other preferred tea brands).
I drink my tea with milk, no sugar. I'm technically lactose intolerant, so usually I use lactaid milk. Sometimes I'll just take a pill and use regular milk, though.
When I'm out and about I usually don't bother getting tea, because it's usually of inferior quality and the water is tepid when they bring it to you.
I'm excited about this community!
