I've always been a tea drinker. I probably should drink even more but I'm too fond of soda. It's only been the last few years that I'll drink coffee, but I can only drink it with a lot of stuff in it so I really don't drink it often. Tea, however, I prefer with nothing in it.
I'm some weird combination of tea snob and tea heathen. I prefer loose leaf but will use tea bags. I don't own a teapot; I use a french press. I don't own teacups but use mugs or glasses. I drink about equal amounts of hot and cold tea. At home it tends to be cold and I always have two glass jars of tea in the fridge (one with caffeine, one without).
I work for a company where there's just as many tea drinkers as coffee drinkers; I'm going to guess that's very unusual for the US. Unfortunately, the person who buys the coffee and tea isn't a tea drinker so he tends to be clueless about what to buy. I gave him three additional suggestions on Friday so it will be interesting to see what he gets; he seems to buy the coffee and tea at a store with the worst tea selection in town.
There used to be this awesome tea place vaguely near me but it went out of business last summer. I recently heard that the one that was next closest closed too but I haven't been over that way in a while so I'm not sure. The rest of the places in town are fairly far away.
Because my tea place closed I've been trying to find somewhere to buy loose leaf tea. I have bought things at Teavana, but I don't really like to. There are two in town; both in malls that I don't like to go to. I've ordered from ESP Emporium, because I had an Amazon deal of the day voucher, but don't think I will again. So, since I need a new supply soon, I've been trying to decide who to try next.
My default tea tends to be chai, but I really drink a wide variety. The loose leaf teas and not-teas that I currently have in my cupboard are arctic raspberry, masala chai, black tea, spicy chai, green chai, spiced green, spiced yerba mate, samurai chai mate, chocolate cream truffle rooibos, and spiced mexican chocolate rooibos.

That sounds like something I'd like to try. Where did you buy it?

Date: 2012-04-30 10:32 pm (UTC)I really don't like Teavana. I've only bought something there a couple times, so I'm not sure, but they always have seemed overpriced. I don't like their mixing teas in the samples to try to get people to have to buy more than one if they want to recreate the sample. They also seem to push buying more quantity-wise.
I'll go in if I'm at one of the malls that have a store but it's certainly not some place I make a special trip for.
